😄 What is an NFT? 😄

Think of an NFT like a print on a wall.  If that print on your wall is mass produced, like say a Pink Floyd album art poster, then there is nothing uniquely identifiable about that product. If it gets destroyed in a flood it can be replaced by one just like it, making it a FUNGIBLE piece of art. On the blockchain, there are fungible tokens, meaning it is an asset that can replaced with one just like it.

WHAT IF  that art print on your wall is the original, or say an edition of a limited run with a unique serial number. That cannot be easily replaced with one just like it, even if it is an identical print in the same series it will have a different unique serial number. The uniqueness of limited edition prints, or originals, is a big contributor of value.  These are like NON-FUNGIBLE pieces of art, they cannot be replaced.

On the blockchain artists can create limited editions of their work into an NFT. This NFT is recorded on a permanent blockchain as a representation of ownership, not of the art contained within, but a collectible reproduction of that art.

Buyers (or sweepstake winners) can collect NFTs, hold them in their wallet, use them some game-ified way, or sell if they choose. The serial numbered piece of art (as an NFT) is a contract of ownership that is unique and collectible, like a baseball card or a piece of limited edition art on the wall.

🍎  What is a 'Pack' of NFTs? 🍎 

Whenever there is a collection to collect the most fun way to collect them is to open a pack! Anyone familiar with collecting sports cards is well aware of this! Collections on WAX are usually, but not always, released in packs which give you a chance at getting that lucky "pull". When you open a pack the pack itself is destroyed, but the contents will show up in your WAX wallet in it's place.
